Borussia Mönchengladbach's captain Lars Stindl is happy that manager Max Eberl is about to return to the Bundesliga.

"First and foremost, I'm incredibly happy that Max Eberl is again an issue for football.

That means he's fine, that he got through a phase of his life that wasn't very easy," said Stindl on the "Kicker meets DAZN" podcast.

RB Leipzig would like to hire Eberl as managing director for the sporting area.

The 48-year-old resigned as sports director in Mönchengladbach at the end of January, citing health reasons.

However, his contract, which runs until 2026, has not been terminated, but is only on hold.

Accordingly, Borussia would be entitled to a transfer fee should Leipzig bring Eberl.

Negotiations with Gladbach

The topic came up again during the cup game between Leipzig and Ottensen a week ago.

After the game, Timo Werner described Eberl as an enrichment for every club in the Bundesliga and said: "If he were with us, all the better." Hours earlier, club boss Oliver Mintzlaff had officially confirmed for the first time that Eberl was Mister X.

The former Gladbach manager wants to go to Leipzig, according to Mintzlaff, details are still open.

Some of them are not that small, both the negotiations with Gladbach and the starting date are open.

Mintzlaff wants the 48-year-old at best immediately, the courted reportedly want a little more time.

Borussia Mönchengladbach announced that previous talks had been "unproductive".

After the 4-0 defeat in Frankfurt, RB Leipzig's situation is not good for coach Domenico Tedesco either.

A little more than 100 days after winning the cup in Berlin, the coach is going through the most difficult phase of his tenure in Leipzig.

Will he survive?

It seems questionable.

In Leipzig, the coaching debate broke out long ago.

A defeat against Donetsk (9 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Champions League and on DAZN), is speculated in the environment, he must not allow himself.

"It's very fast-moving"

With the former Gladbach and Dortmund coach Marco Rose, who once coached the club RB Salzburg, which is also supported by Red Bull, and lives in Leipzig, a possible successor is even being brought into play.

His connection to the designated new sports director Max Eberl is now also fueling the debate.

Tedesco himself tries to ignore them.

"I don't read this.

I then get it in briefings.

That's part of it.

It's very fast-paced," he said.

Stindl's criticism of reactions

At the beginning of the year, Max Eberl declared at an emotional press conference that he would no longer be able to continue his job as Borussia's sports director.

“The person Max Eberl is exhausted and tired.

I no longer have the strength to do this job the way the club needs it,” Eberl said on January 28 and said he “didn’t want anything to do with this football anymore”.

Stindl cannot understand that it has already been said on social networks that Eberl could not have gone so badly if he now wants to return.

"This is complete nonsense.

These are just people who have no idea about the human being," he said.

"That's the problem nowadays when it comes to social networks: that everyone is allowed to express their opinion without personal contact, without know-how, without knowledge."

Some supporters are also bothered by the fact that Eberl is associated with the Red Bull Club, which is unpopular with many supporters.

You have to accept that and he could also "understand it to a certain extent," said Stindl.

“But basically criticizing the other and letting that flow into it is the bottom drawer.

That simply does not work."
